EXAMPLE PREPARATION - Grilled Honey-Garlic Chicken Drummettes
- Preheat & Season: Preheat your grill to medium heat (around 175°C to 200°C / 350°F to 400°F). Toss the dry drumettes in olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until fully coated.
- Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stir in the cornstarch slurry, and boil for 1 minute until sticky and thick. Remove from heat and set half aside for dipping.
- Grill the Chicken: Place drumettes on the grill grates over indirect heat. Close the lid and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, turning every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
- Glaze and Char: During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush the drumettes generously with the cooking half of your honey-garlic sauce. Move them directly over the flames for 1 to 2 minutes per side to caramelize the sugars and create char marks.
- Serve: Remove from the grill, brush with a final fresh layer of the reserved clean sauce, and serve hot.
