Ajinomoto gyoza can be cooked directly from frozen in under 10 minutes by pan-frying with water and a lid for a crispy-bottom, steamed-top texture. Key methods include pan-frying (6-7 mins), steaming, boiling (3.5 mins), or air-frying (180°C for 8-10 mins). No thawing or extra oil is required for the pan-fry method, as they are best cooked directly from the freezer.

Pan-Fry (Recommended):

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  2. Place frozen gyozas in the pan, flat side down, and fry for 2 minutes.
  3. Add 60ml (about 1/4 cup) of water to the pan.
  4. Cover and steam for 5–6 minutes.
  5. Remove lid and cook until the water evaporates and the bottom is crispy.
  • Air Fry:
    1. Preheat air fryer to 180°C (360°F).
    2. Lightly coat dumplings with oil.
    3. Cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Boil: Cook in boiling water for approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds.


Tips for Best Results

  • No Defrosting: Cook directly from frozen to maintain texture.
  • Perfect Skirt: For extra crispiness, add 2 tbsp of cornstarch to the water before covering.
  • Serving: Serve with soy sauce, vinegar, or chili oil.
