  1. Bake the salmon on a parchment-lined sheet pan at 400 degrees Fahrenheit,
  2. allowing approximately 12 minutes per inch of thickness.
  3. After 12 to 15 minutes you'll probably need to cover the tail portion with foil, to prevent overcooking.  
  4. When the salmon is almost done but still slightly translucent at the bone, remove it from the oven and cover it loosely with foil.
  5. Let it rest for 5 to 8 minutes, to finish cooking, then serve.
